SNAP, EBT and the token match
This market is authorized by the USDA to accept SNAP. Here is how to use your benefits, and what is matched.
How it works
Bring your EBT card to the info tent
It is at the north entrance, under the green canopy. Tell us the amount you want to spend. The market's own card reader runs your card; this website never handles EBT.
You get wooden $1 tokens
Same amount, in tokens. They never expire — bring them back any market day this season or next.
Fruits and vegetables are matched dollar for dollar, up to $20 a visit
The market matches your SNAP dollars, dollar for dollar, up to $20 a visit, in match tokens that buy fruits, vegetables and edible plants. Meat, eggs and bread can be bought with SNAP but are not matched. Commons Green Community Fund pays for the match.
Spend them with any vendor who takes SNAP
Look for the SNAP mark on the vendor list. Tokens buy eligible food: produce, meat, dairy, eggs, bread, and seeds or plants that produce food. Not hot prepared food, not crafts.
Sample policy
Riverside Commons Market is fictional, so its authorization and its sponsor, Commons Green Community Fund, are sample data. The match and its $20 limit are this sample market's own policy. Real Georgia markets offer matching through Fresh for Less, a program of Wholesome Wave Georgia; this fictional market is not a partner of that or any other real program. A real market's page states its own limit and its own authorization.
Nobody is told who paid with tokens
Vendors see tokens, not names. No report this market produces identifies a SNAP shopper.
